+The Old Fashioned Ways +

As we know, Arsenic and Old Lace is a black and white movie. To most people that's just all it is: a black and white movie. But to me black and white movies carry a greater meaning. Back when black and white movies were made and even when they started to make them in color, times and people were different. My grandma still watches them and sings along with them today :) Every time she watches one she reminds me and tells me "Times and people were different back then, Ashton." She always reminds me of the Old Fashioned Ways, and to be honest they sound pretty good to me. I know this younger generation has forgotten these Old Fashioned ways but if they worked back then, they can surely work now. Back then you respected one another and you loved God with all you had. People on TV and in homes reverenced God and were always thankful for what he did for them. It was a time when you helped your neighbor or friend when he needed you even if you didn't exactly have the time or money to help him. God was put first and involved in most everything. So every time i see an old black and white movie I remember what my grandma always has taught me. Love God with all your heart and try to help those around you the best you can. I consider my self to be Old Fashioned and Im so very proud to be.

  1. I agree with you when you say that times and people were much different back then. Not that I have experienced it, but they were. And I agree that God should be praised, especially on TV and in movies because that is where everyone gets their role models and things. No wonder the world has gone down hill from the "good 'ol days". Most people see sex and drugs on TV instead of God, and because of that, don't know how to act. Sometimes I wish that I could live back then. Life seems like it would be so much simpler.

  2. I also consider myself kind of old fashion. My grandmother also influenced my into old the good ol' ways and being more respectful. She seems much like how your grandmother stated that " time and people were different back then", my grandmother says the same thing. She also talks about how the put more "garbage" on tv then they did in the old days. She said it seem much more family friendly and even with the black and white movies that didn't show gruesome scenes, sex, or anything like they show today. The old days were much better...

  3. I fully agree with you Ashton! I too am an old-fashioned boy. This movie was the kind of comedy I like. God used to be feared, and people used to have a respect and honor that we have lost today. My grandparents also taught me Biblical principles, that replayed in my memory as I watched this film. Times have changed, and not at all for the better, and this movie was funny, interesting, and just good clean comedy. I enjoyed this, and I think the old days were so much easier, simple, Holy, and just a better environment to live in.
