This week we watched Sweeney Todd. This isn't the first time I have encountered Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pies. Back in High School at Fred T. Foard, I was in Chorus. My Chorus teacher was a Broadway fanatic. If you guys don't know, Sweeney Todd is also a Broadway Play. So you can guess what we did in my chorus class. My teacher loves the Sweeney play, so it was a requirement for us to watch. Now the Broadway play isn't bloody at all except for some red lighting they use to symbolize blood. It is pretty interesting to watch the play.
So you guys know the creepy music that plays throughout the whole movie, well its on lyric sheets for a chorus group to sing. Yeah, you guessed it, we had to sing the medley of Sweeney Todd. It is much creepier to sing about a demon barber that to watch him on TV. We actually had to mean what we were singing too. Just to fill you in here is some of what we had to sing. Some of the Lyrics: "Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd, his skin was pale and his eye was odd,"............... "Swing your razor wide ,Sweeney, Hold it to the sky."
Yeah doesn't that sound pleasant to sing about. It was really hard to sing that at our concert but we did it. I seen some of the faces in the audience and I know they were like "What?!" But I know there were others that thought "Awesome!"
Now I have seen Sweeney again in English class and I would say its an overload. But Mr. Todd is a very popular man so I was bound to run into him again :)

+The Old Fashioned Ways +
As we know, Arsenic and Old Lace is a black and white movie. To most people that's just all it is: a black and white movie. But to me black and white movies carry a greater meaning. Back when black and white movies were made and even when they started to make them in color, times and people were different. My grandma still watches them and sings along with them today :) Every time she watches one she reminds me and tells me "Times and people were different back then, Ashton." She always reminds me of the Old Fashioned Ways, and to be honest they sound pretty good to me. I know this younger generation has forgotten these Old Fashioned ways but if they worked back then, they can surely work now. Back then you respected one another and you loved God with all you had. People on TV and in homes reverenced God and were always thankful for what he did for them. It was a time when you helped your neighbor or friend when he needed you even if you didn't exactly have the time or money to help him. God was put first and involved in most everything. So every time i see an old black and white movie I remember what my grandma always has taught me. Love God with all your heart and try to help those around you the best you can. I consider my self to be Old Fashioned and Im so very proud to be.
